I know this is a bit long winded and convoluted, but it enables me to make sure everything is on, that kodi is the active app, and that I can quick get into my most use addons or android apps.Make sure you are running the latest version of FLIRC GUI software

Short press on MOVIE icon and it will launch netflix instead. Key down sequence to highlight KODI app.Wait x time (for everything to boot up).If you are still following at this point, instead of memorizing your shortcut keys, i also map them into the built in activity buttons so people other than myself can use them This way, when watching livetv, i do use the #s to change channels, but if i am trying to switch programs I first i press RED then the shortcut key i set. When on this window 1 will launch livetv, 2 pandora, 3 netflix, and so on. I personally set the RED KEY to be ".", and that "." to take me to the PROGRAM window in KODI. I use numeric shortcuts to launch LiveTV, gamestream, netflix etc ONLY if the key presses happen when the active window is PROGRAMS. With the keymap editor you can make sure that certain buttons are shortcuts only at certain windows. This essentially gives me an extra 10-15 buttons I can program to directly launch thing within KODI when using a custom keymap (or the add-on Keymap Editor which is pretty straightforward). That being said, I get 0-9, ".", "-", and a few other commands that KODI sees, that would not be an option. My harmony remote setup actually leverages most of the TV commands that are passed to the Shield because natively the shields IR commands aren't the most vast. The key to making this work is having shield connected to a friendly CEC device (I'm using Vizio M60 C3) TornadoTJ, bryansj, & MarkLT1 the following is what I did for some remote shortcuts using harmony remote. currently Vizio passes numeric keypress to shield via CEC etc). So all of this being said, is there any hopes that gamestream will compress and make compatible, or are there any other workarounds that I'm not thinking of to get 5.1 gamestream working with my setup? As i mentioned, even a new receiver will not be ideal because it may solve my 5.1 issue, but then I will not be able to leverage universal remote functionality on shield (i.e. You also mentioned that optical will not solve this? Because I believe i can run optical from shield to my receiver for audio if it was a workaround. Looks like Moonlight is leveraging the nvidia gamestream setup from the PC so I guess it makes sense. I tried the Moonlight app instead of built-in gamestream and still can't get the 5.1. So issue 1 of 2 dealt with (and yes I did see some black screen time as you mentioned but assumed it was my streaming setup)Īnd yes, i'm leveraging passthrough which seems to work just fine on KODI. (Plus I love to tinker with this stuff )Ĭlick to expand.Great thanks again! I did swap out the HDMI cord from shield to TV and it does now default to 4k 60. And having multiple remote/processes for turning everything off/on is not going to cut it here unfortunately. lacking (as in- I can't seem to get the harmony remote to do anything reliably with the Shield).

The problem I have with the nvidia remote, is I am not sure how to make it control the AVR volume (maybe that is a mis-config on my part), and the stock integration between the Harmony Hub and the shield is. Look at iPad, click on "Movies" (projector turns on if necessary, AVR turns on if necessary and is set to "Media Player", Shield turns on if necessary and kodi is launched, and the iPad switches to a list of all the movies available on the Kodi machine), then click a movie on the iPad and it plays (all of these steps currently work, with the exception of auto-launching Kodi). Thus, I'd like an interface that takes that step out. and they don't know what the heck "kodi" is. but for some reason, they seem to have trouble then switching over to the remote (or controller) and going through to select "Netflix". I already have my iPad interface set up to fire everything up and turn on the shield.
